Crystals love natural materials. Store them in wooden boxes, wicker baskets, linen pouches, or on wooden trays. Natural materials are energetically neutral and won't interfere with your crystals' energy. Avoid storing crystals long-term in plastic containers where possible.

Many crystals are surprisingly soft or brittle, and storing them loose together can cause chips, scratches, and breaks. Wrap individual pieces in soft cloth, velvet pouches, or tissue paper, or use a divided box to keep them apart. This is especially important for:
- Selenite — very soft and scratches easily
- Celestite — delicate clusters that can crumble
- Fluorite — prone to chipping along natural cleavage lines
- Kyanite — can split along its blade-like structure
- Pyrite — can scratch softer stones
🌞 Keep Away From Direct Sunlight
This is one of the most important storage tips. Many crystals will fade permanently if left in direct sunlight for extended periods. Crystals to keep out of direct sun include:
- Amethyst — fades from purple to pale grey or white
- Rose quartz — loses its delicate pink colour
- Fluorite — colour fades significantly
- Aquamarine — can lose its blue hue
- Celestite — fades from blue to white
Display these beauties in a bright room, but away from windowsills where direct sun hits. A shelf or cabinet works perfectly.
💧 Keep Away From Moisture & Humidity
Some crystals are damaged by moisture, humidity, or even the oils from your skin over time. Store moisture-sensitive crystals in a dry environment and avoid bathrooms or kitchens where steam is common. Crystals to be especially careful with include selenite, halite, and any raw or unpolished pieces with natural crevices where moisture can collect.

Every time you handle a crystal, you have an opportunity to connect with it. Hold it in both hands, take a breath, and either set a fresh intention or simply appreciate its energy. This keeps your relationship with your crystals active and meaningful.

Crystals vary enormously in hardness. Harder stones like quartz, amethyst, and obsidian are quite robust. Softer stones like selenite, calcite, and celestite need much gentler handling — avoid dropping them or knocking them against hard surfaces.

If you wear crystal jewellery, remove it before swimming, showering, exercising, or applying perfume and lotions. Chemicals, chlorine, and sweat can damage both the crystal and the setting over time. Store jewellery pieces individually in soft pouches to prevent scratching.

The most important way to protect your crystals' energetic integrity is regular cleansing.
